Our History
The Consortium of Black Market Researchers was born out of a desire to create a space where professionals in market research and insights can connect, grow, and thrive and from a recognition that true insight requires diverse perspectives. Founded by Tikica Benjamin with a clear vision, CoBMR addresses a need for community and representation, present and future, in an industry that shapes how businesses understand people and communities.
In Tikica’s words: “The Consortium of Black Market Researchers is dedicated to bridging experiences and empowering and advancing professionals, current and future, in the market research industry.” This founding principle guides everything we do.
Our organization believes that market research thrives when it includes all voices. By creating space for Black researchers to connect, lead, innovate, and collaborate, we’re not just changing careers—we’re transforming research itself.

We’re working to significantly increase the presence of Black professionals in all areas of market research — from fieldwork to boardrooms.
